Eileen Thorpe was as Irish as they come.

Born Eileen Lucey in County Kerry, she splashed in the River Sheen as a child,
mastered the art of step-dancing, and cheered for her father on the hurling pitch.
Even after five decades in America, she still made a mean soda bread and never completely lost that delightful Irish brogue.

When she passed away in the fall of 2001, we, her family, were determined to send her off to Heaven in true Irish style.

It was her wish to be cremated, so we set about searching for the perfect Irish urn.

But we could find none. We searched high and low, asked every funeral and Irish resource we could find... but the answer was always the same:
Nothing Irish.

So two of us -- daughter Mary Ellen and daughter-in-law Nancy -- decided to create our own Irish urn.

We found so many beautiful things -- Celtic symbols cast in bronze and hammered in copper, crosses made of pewter and cast stone, delicate Irish porcelain and linen -- that it became impossible to choose just one.

And so, The Irish Wake was born.

but casket drapes, candles, crosses, rosaries...
everything an Irish family needs for a proper, personal and poignant goodbye.

Of course, you don't have to be Irish to appreciate the craftsmanship of the Emerald Isle, and ancient Celtic symbols have powerful universal meaning and appeal. It is our belief that people of any heritage will find our products beautiful and special.
